CLEAN AND WHITE DENTURES FOR $5 PER YEAR
75Are you ashamed of wearing dentures?
Most of us have a stigma about wearing dentures. And, that mark of shame or discredit is played upon in all kinds of denture related ads. I don’t have any such problem. I can’t say I could hardly wait to have my teeth pulled but I’m glad I did and have dentures.
My teeth were a constant problem for as long as I can remember and I was very self-conscious about them. I brushed more often than just between meals and at night. I wore out more than my share of tooth brushes but still had cavities. My teeth were brittle and would break off like pieces of a glacier falling into the sea. When I entered the service I had twenty-one teeth filled but the problems didn’t end there.
For years, if I ate lemon, lime or grapefruit, juice or the fruit pulp and all, my teeth would bother me for days. Ice cream...forget it, too cold. Hot drinks anyone? Not me thanks, too hot. My businesses covered everything from manufacturing and import/export to retail sales and I met and talked with a lot of people. My teeth didn’t help me feel confident. I had twice yearly routine maintenance done but had problems with infections. A few years ago I finally decided to bite the bullet, pun intended, and had my mouth full of fillings, with what was left of the outer shells of the originals, extracted.
Since getting dentures, after getting used to them and toughening up my gums, I haven’t looked back or wished I still had the ones that came as standard equipment.
The one thing I used to not like about dentures was having to buy tablets and go through the hassle of heating water, going through the ritual of getting everything set up for the night, then emptying and cleaning the cup in the morning plus the fake mint, chemical after taste, even when I’d thoroughly washed the dentures. So, I decided to see if I could come up with a better solution for the problem. It took a couple of years but I’m happy with what I discovered.
I tried many different solutions before coming upon the answer, I even tried the two that are in the final formula separately. I tried adding other things to the two items in basic final formula but wasn’t able to improve upon it. The additions only added to the cost and cost was another reason I began looking for an alternative to off the shelf denture cleaners in the first place. I talked with a man recently who has dentures. He told me he had the dentist make his dentures the same color and configuration as his originals. He had his teeth pulled because of the problems he was having and because he didn’t like the way they looked. Ask yourself, if you don’t like the way your teeth look, would you want the replacements to look the same? If you bought a new suit, would you want parts of it off color with different length sleeves and maybe a button missing or sewn on crooked? Maybe, but not me. If I’m going to buy a new suit or dentures, I want them to look good and be proud of how I look. I also wouldn’t buy a new car that had faded paint and bent wheels.
Not long ago, I was asked, “Are those your teeth”? Since I have no stigma about dentures my answer was. “You bet, I paid for them.” Another answer might be, “What do you think”? and leave them guessing.
Having white and bright teeth is a priority for most people who have their original teeth. Why shouldn’t that be the same for those of us who have dentures?
