Foods Can Cause Depression
67Depression, anxiety and diet
Foods can cause depression.
Hormonal and biological imbalances can often be corrected by a change in diet. Everyone experiences occasional feelings of guilt, depression, anxiety, irritability and sadness, that’s “normal.” When the feelings are an everyday occurrence there’s reason for concern. Many times, depression can have it’s roots in biological and hormonal problems. When these are out of balance, our entire life can be turned upside down. The standard medical treatments are drugs, which can pose problems of their own. There are some simple changes that can be made that may alleviate the problem. Don’t dismiss them because their not hi-tech or trendy. Simple is the answer for many things.A toxic bowel, caused by constipation, can wreak havoc with the entire body, including causing depression. Slow bowel transit times add toxins to the bloodstream which in turn place overloads on other body parts and organs. Slow bowel transit time, food staying in the intestinal tract too long, creates poisons and becomes rancid. The liver is responsible for detoxifying and breaking down waste material absorbed from the intestinal tract. If the liver is overburdened it will dump the toxins back into the colon, which will reabsorb the toxins and send them back to the liver. The liver is responsible for many things. If the liver is overloaded it can’t do its other duties like breaking down and maintaining hormonal balances. Excess, or inadequate, amounts of hormones in the bloodstream can lead to depression and mood swings.Certain foods are known to cause cancers. These same foods, and other substances, can also cause constipation and toxic bowel syndrome. Connections between various diseases can be traced to similar foods, and other substances, as can depression. Some of the major contributors to constipation are alcohol, caffeine, fried foods, prescription and over the counter medications, marijuana and other recreational drugs. Methamphetamyne can cause a complete breakdown of the entire body, causing depression, degenerative diseases and constipation, to name a few. These same foods and substances are also suspect in colorectal, prostate, uterine and cervical cancers. Is there a connection between constipation and cancer? Read my article on the variant prostate gene and draw your own conclusions.Foods that can help relieve constipation are red beets, aloe vera, common iceplant, papaya, figs, grapefruit pectin, Vitamin C and magnesium in combination, some herbal teas like red clover combinations, ground flaxseed and sufficient water intake (sodas, alcohol, sugary drinks and other similar drinks can’t take the place of water at the cellular level. Water is water and everything else isn’t.)Massage therapy and self massage can often relieve constipation. A closed ileocecal valve can cause constipation and there is a massage technique that can help to open and stabilize the problem. Diarrhea can be caused by an open ileocecal valve, and proper massage instruction is advised.
